October 6 -9

This week we will be working on the reading buddy Freddy the Frog, He tells us to hop over the word read till the end of the sentence go back and try the word again. In math we will continue on our Pattern unit. This week is the book fair. Stop by and support our PTA. We will also be having SEP conferences this week. They will be held Wednesday and Thursday. Please come at your scheduled time. If you have a conflict will you please let me know ASAP. Wednesday, October 21 will be our First Grade Field Trip. We will be going to Hee-Haw Farms. Information about the Field Trip is included in this weeks newsletter.

September 21 - 25

This week we will be working on short vowels. We will work on our reading buddy, Sammy the Spider. He tells us when we get to a word we don't know to try to say the first sound, read the sentence then go back and try the word again. We will finish up our unit on number sense. On Friday we will have apple day. If you are able to send a couple of apples we need 6 red, 6 yellow, and 6 green. I could still use more volunteers, especially to change reading books. If you are available to do that please let me know.

Great Start

I just want to thank all of you for a great start to the school year! We have been working on our classroom procedures and starting some basic academics. We are now getting into our regular classroom routines. We have started our take home reading books and hopefully those are going well. Next week we will begin our Raz kids reading.

Welcome

Welcome to First Grade! I am so excited to start this school year. My name is Mrs. Hall. This is my eleventh year teaching. I taught Kindergarten for three years and then this will be my eighth year teaching first grade! I look forward to getting to know all of you. Field day and goodbye

We started Field Day with otter pops.

They had to try and walk with an egg between their legs and holding a mat between their shoulders.

This was tag with squirt bottles. If they got wet they had to stop and do two push ups.

They had to hold the cotton ball under their chin and run and drop it in a cup.

They played with the parachute which they always enjoy!

I just want to thank all of you for a fabulous first grade year! I will miss all of you. Good luck in second grade!

St. Patrick's Day

I know it has been a while since I have posted anything. Next week is St. Patrick's Day. We will not be having a party per say but we will be doing an eating of the greens. We are looking for donations of any green food. The food must be store bought. It can be sweet or healthy, hopefully we get a good mix. This is an activity we will be doing with our 3rd grade buddies from Mrs. Orr's class. Hopefully it will be a fun activity.
